Our advertures in Bern, 1

Joel and I arrived to Savoy late in the evening. The check-in was quick and painless, 10 minutes later we had already showered and were able to collapse into our bed. We fell asleep soon after, too tired to unpack, too unconcerned with what was going to happen the day after.
Today I woke up as early as usually and got the chance to examine our surroundings. I made a mental note to avoid staying in Savoy hotels in the future, if possible. Not that there was something awfully awry with the room, hotel or service but the whole interior kept screaming for "over the top". Way too totally kitsch. There are two things that speak in Savoy's favour, though: the perfect location and a spacious and cool bathroom. [As a side remark: bathrooms really matter because on most days they're the only place at home (or wherever I might be staying) besides the bed where I spend more than a few minutes.] When I had showered and washed-dried my hair it was already a few minutes past 8 AM. Joel was still sleeping - which was totally fine with me - and I decided to take a little walk. A bit more concerning the perfect location - on the right there was the Hauptbahnhof, one of Moye's father's department stores lay straight ahead and I only needed to dodge around the left corner to find myself standing in front of Starbucks. All my friends know me as a passionate coffee lover but I'm even more passionate about Starbucks. It's all still a great mystery but there's just something about that atmosphere and interior. I don't really like all those special flavoured frappuccinos and macchiatos etc. because I like my coffee unsweetened and ain't that into whipped cream but the latte and cappuccino there are just my things. And, in case I wish to experience a bit less conventional taste, I can always ask them to skip the whipped cream - luckily.
So, I stepped in and waited until it was my turn to order. I always order grande. I decided to take two to go - the other one for Joel, figuring I might as well wake him up and take my morning walk with him. He was rather eager to join me because we only have two days of possible sightseeing and playtime before his appointments would start on Monday. We spent the whole day walking around in the city to make sure I would know my way around alone, went shopping as expected and among clothes and other stuff we also bought a memory chip for my phone - which has a really lousy camera, I must say. We dined at Zähringer, one of these oh-how-very swank restaurants (that might not even look as posh as the prices suggest) where the waiters tend to act as if they were royalties themselves unless you put an end to it right at the beginning. Which we did, so the service was totally agreeable and we do recommend it to people who know what they want and how to get it.
Afterwards we took an evening walk along Aare :) Right now we're back at Savoy and preparing ourselves for a night out in Dead End, sort of a private club with mostly electronic music.
